We will NOT be doing annual flu vaccinations while the government have the current lockdown restrictions in place.

If this results in your horse going out of date (a), there will be a vaccine amnesty to help sort the problem out (b), the British Equine Veterinary Association is in urgent discussion with equine sports regulators to ask for an extension to the usual 365-day rule.

There is no need to do the extra six-monthly boosters at present as all competitions are now cancelled.

Due to the ‘lockdown’ measures, experts are of the view that a delay in annual booster will have NO impact on equine welfare during the initial lockdown period of three weeks.

Please don’t worry about this – it will be sorted out for you one way or another.

We are following industry advise and so will administer a 2nd flu vaccination if the 1st one has already been administered.

We will want to respect social distancing when we visit. To do this, and we ask if you are self-isolating due to COVID-19, in these situations, we ask that you arrange for someone who is not in self-isolation to be present with your horse.

We may or may not administer vaccinations against other equine diseases (e.g. tetanus, herpes or strangles) depending on individual circumstances, please ring one of our vets to discuss this.

Also, don’t worry about emergency care for sick and injured horses – we are here for you and WILL give every support we can!!!

Please don’t hesitate to ring and speak to one of our equine vets on 01382 811111 if you have concerns and they will be able to advise you.

AT THIS TIME WE URGE ALL CLIENTS TO FOLLOW THE PRIME MINISTER’S INSTRUCTIONS – STAY SAFE STAY AT HOME.
